Claes specialises in patents within mechanics, electronics, and manufacturing processes. He has broad experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, leading opposition proceedings, and providing advice on Freedom-to-Operate analyses, portfolio strategies, and the commercialisation of technology.
His work is defined by technical precision, analytical clarity, and a long-term focus on client value. By combining detailed technical expertise with strategic thinking, Claes helps companies build patent portfolios that strengthen both innovation and competitiveness.

In 2025, Claes was recognised by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) as both MIP IP Star and Practitioner of the Year – the first time the award was given to a patent engineer.
