OUR FOUNDER
Lorenz Albrecht Theodor Groth
Groth & Co was founded in Stockholm in 1869 by Lorenz Albrecht Theodor Groth – one of Scandinavia’s first intellectual property advisors. Even then, he offered assistance, not only in securing patents, but also in commercialising ideas and helping innovators to bring their inventions to the market. This was a time when Sweden stood on the brink of its industrial breakthrough – and L.A. Groth was at the forefront.
Among his early clients were visionaries such as Alfred Nobel, Gustaf de Laval and Nikolaus Otto. During his active years, L.A. Groth became a leading voice in the development of the international patent system and represented Sweden at the first international patent congresses. He was also awarded the Order of Vasa for his contributions, before moving to England in 1880.
