(Publ. 16 OCT 2020) On October 12th, the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago joined the Madrid Protocol, becoming the 107th member of the Madrid System. The treaty for Trinidad and Tobago will enter into force on January 12th, 2021.
The Madrid system (Madrid Protocol) for the international registration of trademarks is the primary international system for facilitating the registration of trademarks in multiple jurisdictions around the world. The advantage of this system is that it is possible to apply for trademark protection through one administrative process which is also more cost-effective.
