(Publ. 9 AUG 2017) On August 7, Thailand joined the Madrid Protocol, becoming the 99th member of the Madrid System. The treaty will enter into force on November 7, 2017.

This system provides trademark owners with the possibility to apply for trademark protection through one specific administrative process in 114 jurisdictions around the world. Since the application can be filed for several countries and in one single language, and payment only has to be made for one set of fees in one currency, the process will be very cost-effective.
