(Publ. 14 SEP 2018) The Swedish company Candela Speed Boat is about to start serial production and will therefore launch the world’s first electric boat with a range and speed on par with a traditional fossil fuel boat. Candela’s boat is designed and constructed at the company’s facility at Lidingö in Stockholm, Sweden. We at Groth & Co have assisted Candela with novelty searches and patent applications relating to their innovation.

Candelas electric boat uses hydrofoils to lift the boat from the water surface, thus reducing water resistance giving the boat higher speed to lower energy consumption. The boats is be able to travel up to 50 nautical miles at a speed of 20 knots on a charge. The start of sales for the boats is scheduled for summer 2019.
