For the first time ever in 2022, the average brand value of a Best Global Brand has reached over US$3 trillion. The overall value of the Top 100 brands increased 16% rise from 2021 according to Interbrand’s annual report “Best Global Brands 2022”.
"It is striking how the importance of a strong and well-maintained brand is also reflected in its value and what a central asset this is for most successful companies. A general increase in value of approx. 16% among Top 100 brands during the past year is impressive. There are now also accepted valuation methods for brands such as e.g. the international ISO standard Brand Valuation, which makes it possible even for smaller companies to follow the value development of these important assets," says Mats Lundberg, ManagingDirector at Groth & Co.
At the top we still have Apple closely followed by Microsoft, Amazon and Google. Interbrand’s analysis concludes that these organizations are building businesses around their brand (in contrast to the traditional approach of building brand around a product) – and it is setting them apart from the rest of the pack.
Among Scandinavian companies, Lego has risen by 30%. Other among the top 100 are IKEA,H&M and Spotify but they have ranked lower this year.
The rankingis produced by the international consultancy firm Interbrand and has been published for over two decades and consists of the 100 highest valued brands worldwide. There are three key components to their methodology of valuations; an analysis of the financial performance of the branded products or services, the role the brand plays in purchase decisions and the brand’s competitive strength and its ability to create loyalty and, therefore, sustainable demand and profit into the future.
