(Publ. 7 APR 2022) On April 4th, the Republic of Chile joined the Madrid Protocol, becoming the 111th member of the Madrid System. The treaty for Chile will enter into force on July 4th, 2022.
The Madrid system (Madrid Protocol) for the international registration of trademarks is the primary international system for facilitating the registration of trademarks in multiple jurisdictions around the world. The advantage of this system is that it is possible to apply for trademark protection through one administrative process which is also more cost-effective.
