(Publ. 28 APR 2022) On April 6th, the Republic of Cabo Verde joined the Madrid Protocol, becoming the 112th member of the Madrid System, which now covers 128 countries.. The treaty for Cabo Verde will enter into force on July 6th, 2022.

The Madrid system (Madrid Protocol) for the international registration of trademarks is the primary international system for facilitating the registration of trademarks in multiple jurisdictions around the world. The advantage of this system is that it is possible to apply for trademark protection through one administrative process which is also more cost-effective.
