(Publ. 20 NOV 2013) The European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights (EOIIPR) has just launched a new database, The Enforcement Database, where intellectual property rights owners can record relevant information about their products for the customs and the police all over the EU. The aim is to decrease the number of pirated goods coming in to the EU by facilitating and synchronizing the customs and police operations all over the EU.

The Enforcement Database is an IT database built on existing official registers, endorsed by both DG TAXUD and Europol. Both Customs and Police will add the tool into their internal secure network for easy and direct access.

The Enforcement Database provides a central repository of information on products, such as pictures, or any other relevant information about the products in question, like details about your company, contact persons for enforcement matters, logistic, prior cases, identifiers, packaging or any information that you believe would be useful for enforcement authorities to separate the fake from the genuine. All information provided will be translated into the official languages of EU so that the customs authorities and police across the EU can access it in their own language.

The use of the tool is free of charge, and all information will be handled safe and secure.
