Brunei joins the Madrid Protocol

On October 6, Brunei Darussalam joined the Madrid Protocol and by that became the 98th member of the Madrid System. The relevant treaty will enter into force on January 6, 2017.

This system provides trademark owners with the possibility to apply for trademark protection through one specific administrative process in 114 jurisdictions around the world. Since the application can be filed for several countries and in one single language, and payment only has to be made for one set of fees in one currency, the process has become very cost-effective. If you have any questions concerning trademark protection you are welcome to contact one of our consultants at the Law and Trademark Dept., +46 8 729 91 00.
